It’s Nice to Meet You!

Music, Art, & Dance Classes, Team, Teachers and Our Story: Austin Arts Academy in Austin, Texas

Hey there!!

I’d like to introduce you to our new blog. It’s like meeting the family for the first time. And that’s what we hope to do here.

Introduce you to our amazing team, teachers, parents, students and whoever else comes across our path here at Austin Arts Academy that we find has an interesting perspective to share.

But don’t be nervous.
We want to share your stories, and sprinkle some content in as we go along to keep you informed, along with entertained.

We all love a great story.
Like that one time at band camp… haha. Just kidding!
I’m sure those are great stories, and maybe a few of those will come out.

Let’s start off with how my path crossed with Austin Arts Academy, formerly Trevelise Musique. It’s quite romantic actually….
My dog Levi and I were walking along the beach in Playa Negra, Costa Rica.
He’s a very friendly and lovable corgi that some of you may have met during your lessons at Ms. Rebekah’s house.

Levi brings a lot of people into my life, including the Trevelise family.
I struck up a conversation with this random guy and his kids, and as we got to chatting, he asked if I had ever considered being a traveling nanny for a family and I kind of shook my head, laughed and said, no.

As you can probably guess, this random guy was Chris, Ms. Rebekah's husband and their kids Ava and Cannon. Rebekah was out surfing at the time.

We continued to chat as the days went on and we kept meeting on the beach, and long story short…
I moved in with them a few months later. No joke. But that’s how I roll.
Historically that hasn’t worked for me in relationships, but this time was different.

You just never know where life will take you or who your dog will bring into your life.

Now here I am, a traveling nanny for Chris and Rebekah and brought on in December 2021 to work for Austin Arts Academy as a contributing writer, company culture curator, and member of the admin team, and we all lived happily ever after.

My name is Melissa Wolken. You may have seen me at the December 2021 recitals or possibly the posts we share on Facebook, where I pull the winners of our $100 amazon gift card. What an amazing incentive to get in front of that camera for a testimonial, am I right?!

You will get to know me as I continue to post here on the blog and I look forward to connecting with you as we transition and grow into who we are as Austin Arts Academy

Our team has been busy rebuilding our new website, including this blog, and looking forward to the future as we transition from Trevelise Musique to Austin Arts Academy in 2022.

Things might look a little different, but don’t worry, we will continue to offer all the amazing lesson and class options and opportunities that we have had in the past, with a few new things added.

I look forward to getting to know you all and if you’d like to connect with me, please reach out to melissa@austinartsacademy.com
